A date with my boyfriend! Tested my new blackmagic app on my iphone camera and learned how to do basic color grading.
The writing format - like a rock band documentary - is pretty fun to read. I like reading dialogue, it's a great medium to catch people's quirks, the words they use. But honestly TJR's characters all sort of speak the same, and even use the same figures of speech/phrases. It's bland when you notice. And at some point one of TJR's passages goes like this:
And I said, 'blah blah.'Like, dude, what? I get that there's only a finite number of words you can use to surround dialogue, but she really could've framed the dialogue literally any other way than choosing Method A over and over and over and over again. And you can't tell me that's how people verbally tell stories, because - duh, you know what humans sound like.
Daisy Jones was fairly well rounded. I don't like her, but Taylor Jenkins Reid, the author, did a pretty good job in making a complex woman. It's not like she's too much of a mary sue, many of the characters bristle at her/dislike her for actual good reasons.
Why is Camila's only characterization "forgiving wife"? Yeah she had that thing with Gary but uh... meh.
I loved how TJR wrote the glitz and glamour of the time though, it was gritty enough for you to enjoy both the romantic part of it as well as the shitty. The cast was colorful and the narration was illustrative. I liked it! The author's talent shows in the functionality of her writing; eventually, though, it falls flat.
Overall the first half was far more enjoyable for me than the second. Felt like we were going somewhere, building to something real dramatic. I mean don't get me wrong I was glad that Billy "stayed" with Camila but it felt almost unsatisfying. I don't want the other ending, the author just didn't deliver it as well as they could've.
I'm totally, utterly excited. I just feel like this year's gonna go better than all my other years. It's in the middle of the calendar year right now, but I actually feel like "new (academic) year, new me!" I just feel like I'm actually changing for once, and for the better. I feel like I can do things!
I'm trying to capture adulthood as if I lived in the 2000s. Yeah, cringe and hipster, but there was a certain je ne sais quoi to that 2000s/2010s aesthetic. Recently, I've become a little obsessed with accessing the internet as it was in my childhood. Such a magnificent time to be a kid. So troubling and yet so perfect. Is it odd that I wouldn't mind living in a Life is Strange-esque world? Even so, I wouldn't want to be that age again. I feel perfectly me in my 22-year-old skin.
Here's a life update: I've got night classes (6pm-9pm) 4 days out of the week, every week, for my entire term. At first I was a little iffy about this — pissy, too! But now that I think about it, I get to have the waking hours for my free time, and fully capitalize on being free while the day's alive. And then, night rolls around, I'll retire to the classroom. Today's my first day on this schedule, and it's currently morning, so I'll have to see. Here's to hoping.
Here's my soundtrack for the days to come, and for my train ride on the way to campus later, back to my dorm. Hey, play the music — it'll keep playing even if you click on my other tabs (Log, Krisipedia, etc.)
By the way, big life update: I'm on a new medicine. I don't know if it's just placebo, but it sure does feel like it's changing my life.
Clarice Starling has got to be THE best Final Girl (change my mind)!
The matter of her being a woman is pivotal to the story, and yet never cliche. She's scrappy "white trash" and that makes her journey in the FBI all the more compelling. Men leer, they tower over her, and her reaction is akin to that of most women’s: to bite her tongue and act like nothing’s happening; even though, the disrespect is palpable. The only time she ever mentions it is during the drive back from West Virginia, to her boss, whom she at least has a good rapport. And the way she talks about it isn’t dramatic; she just tells him a fact:
Her assignment to speak with Lecter is even based on her being a woman — perhaps she’ll stir something in the man, what with him not having seen one for years.
I can’t speak on Hannibal’s thought process. Hell, even the author, Thomas Harris, narrates him like a mere witness. Which makes sense, given his previous career as a journalist. It’s fascinating, really, because in (rare) interviews, he describes it more as a “passive process,” wherein the scenes just play out. He doesn’t make anything up. It happens, unfolds in front of him.
And it’s quite beautiful, how protective Harris is of Starling. I notice that there are often female characters in his novels that you can’t help but feel protective of, and the rest of the characters seem to agree. In Red Dragon (2002), Reba inherently does need help. She’s blind. But again, she’s capable, and can hold her own even in the final act when Dolarhyde abandons her in the most horrifying situation possible. Hannibal even had a sister, whose gruesome end began his penchant for cannibalism.
In Silence of the Lambs, it is of course, our darling Clarice.
She is not a strong female character. She is a strong character, period. I love her. Hannibal would not have been nearly as fascinating without her to have a back-and-forth with. What makes her more endearing is her sheer sincerity: she never lies to Lecter, but she can go toe-to-toe with him — certainly, she is not nearly as refined as him, but her tenacity and hard-earned skills from F.B.I. training make her formidable.
I’m not quite sure where I’d read it, but one of the most compelling theories I saw as to why Hannibal was so captivated by her was because she let him practice his profession. The hurdle of being incarcerated does make it hard to do any sort of psychiatry. I digress. She answered his questions but she shot her own right back; she made her own guesses, poked and prodded just as he would; pressed no matter how unnerving the man was.
I guess, in a sense, I aspire to be like her. Scrappy with a little taste, smart in the way it matters. I love you, Clarice Starling!
Happy Halloween , interwebs!
I'm (unfortunately?) a huge homebody and don't want to go to any parties. I'm past my freshman year - no more dirtbag nights out lol. I might recount some stories on here sometime!
But I freaking love Halloween... the dressing up! An excuse for everyone to just put on their weirdest, silliest, scariest garb! I'd like to enumerate some of my costumes, past and dream.
Sims character
My sister and I wore matching Sims costumes here, we basically had the same outfit on BUT had differently colored plumbobs (that's the diamond thing on top of Sims' heads) and whoever was wearing the orange plumbob at the time had to act cranky LOL. We made the plumbob headbands ourselves! I wish I had a pic; I mean, I know I do but it's too far deep in the asscrack of my gallery app.
Max from the Goofy Movie
I wore this to a Halloween party in my sophomore year! I had the black long sleeves, super baggy red tee, baggy pants, backwards red cap, and of course my nose was painted black! I straightened my hair a bit so it'd look like Max's ears, too. lol. Honestly such a chic costume!!! It got hot toward the end of the night and I had to take off the baggy tee so I was just serving random first-stage anthrophomorpization (furry moding) instead of Goofy Movie Max.
Paddington Bear
OMFG. Paddington is seriously my favourite little guy in the WORLD (next to my dog Peanut). I wanted to dress as him this year but the costume would be wayyy too hot. Coat, hat, yeah I couldn't handle that in my area's climate. BUT OMFG I LOVE PADDINGTON SOOO MUCH it would be my dream to dress up as him. Such a cute little guy.
Odd realization: I'd have to paint my nose black for this one too. Not sure if I like where my costume preferences are going... /j
I know it's totally lame I don't have any pics up but if I get the time, I'll post them on a diff tab here! For your viewing pleasure lol. I hope other people post some Halloween stuff on their websites too! :)
Tonight, my Halloween plans are probably just watching some movies - hopefully with my sis and mom!!!
Hi! As you can see I've got some old web ads here, including my own on the bottom!. I love them! But I'd like to have Nice ads... ones that lead to my fellow neocities users! So anybody who comes across this...
Come advertise on my website!
It can be a square or banner, just not a skyscraper type.
there are NO requirements by the way! this is just for fun. I mean, definitely email me with: an image (no style requirement!) and link me back to your site. But that's pretty much it!
Edit:I've discovered BannerLink!!!still though, I want square ads for the right side so still feel free to send some!!! :D
Hello! Welcome to version 2.0 of my website! Formerly known as killkris, I thought that name was a bit too edgy so I've renamed the place to EVERYTHINGKRIS!
I hope you enjoy your stay. I'll treat this homepage as a newspaper, and the other tabs up there will lead you to all the stuff that I find fun and awesome and epic.
Feel free to write in my chat on the bottom left!:D I also have email: killkris@protonmail.com if you want to contact me. This is a paragraph! Here's how you make a link: Neocities. Here's how you can make bold and italic text.
Im totally into just creating stuff in general :D it's what we were made for. I love space and the stars cuz they're amazing ... other stuff I like making are zines, posters, designs, and pages in my junk journal! i still haven't implemented a junk journal page lol... that's on me! but in the meantime u can check out the Rabbit holes page, which has stuff that interest me all over the internet :)
To learn more HTML/CSS, check out these tutorials!
These meds make me alive! And productive! Life is jampacked, and it's perfect.
Side part, straight layered hair. Just some random thoughts over the last few days...
My site's a single-page-application, and I don't use iframes for my main "browser" with all the tabs. So when I update a tab, it doesn't really point out the update in the Neocities update feed. That makes me a little sad since I wish people could see what I'm exactly updating, but it's whatevs. That's why I made a changelog!
The rich have a moral imperative to embrace more risk. Go fuck yourselfie! - Victoria Chase
I love my mom. She packed me such DELICIOUS food to keep in my fridge at uni. It's so hearty and she's so funny, cause she packed my Tupperware to THE BRIM! Like the meat and veggies and stew inside have ZERO space between one another. It looked so comical before I served myself some. I should've taken a photo!
I wonder why I have this hyperfixation to log, note, write everything I think, feel, and imagine down. I have such an inclination to etch it into stone, to leave my fingerprints on something. To last. What is that about? Or is it just an inherently human urge - like how we (to refer to our species by we - it is so endearing) left handprints on cave walls, wrote "I WAS HERE" on the walls of temples, leave lockets on bridges?
It's just part of existing. Leaving evidence of your existence. You were here, so was I.
I am overjoyed to be able to be alive. To feel. To want.
I was here, and I loved Mom.
Rare aesthetic: being 14, watching Jacksepticeye play Life is Strange. Bonus points if it's the cold months
Pheeeew! My final grades are out and I got a 3.125 GPA for the term! I totally lazed out on a Gen. Ed. class that definitely dragged my grade down, since I literally got so many 4.0s. But I'm so proud of myself! Just like, 2 terms ago I freaking FAILED everything because of profound sadness lol. But I'm back on track! I'm so happy.
I'll be spending my term break playing with my dog Peanut, playing some Lego games I got on sale on Steam, spending time with my family who I LOVE SO MUCH! and working on EverythingKris! I'm also looking forward to finally catching up on a fun project I'm doing with another Neocities user. Something to do with a newspaper!!! It's so fun.
Since getting the Lego games I've also kind of wanted to record some videos of me playing, just because I REALLY LOVE LEGO INDIANA JONES! I already started it but who cares lol? I'll be putting that up on my Soon-To-Come Everytube tab, up top! Still finalizing what to actually call it.
In the meantime (today) I'm gonna go to a Christmas party with my coworkers. I currently work/volunteer at my campus printshop, and it's really nice.
Okay, around the start of Phantom of the Opera, Raoul goes to talk to Christine, right? Like he's congratulating her on getting the lead, talking about how she's been visited by the Angel of Music. Alright, cool, yeah good job Christine. He literally says no doubt about it! Yep Angel of Music. But the Angel of Music is just like, a concept to him. It's not some guy.
So I'm thinking, he must've been a little weirded out when Christine said "the Angel of Music is very strict!" and "Things have changed, Raoul." Like, what do you mean it's strict? "It" doesn't exist ... Do you just have a training regimen for yourself? Like damn Christine you must be locked in cause to him, she just looks crazy dedicated to her art. Emphasis on crazy.
I think now's a good time to mention I'm a huge Phantom of the Opera fan.
The worst thing about having a lot of ideas is wondering which one to go with! I'm going to keep redesigning this Log page's styling, until it feels RIGHT!
What a great problem to have, huh?
I'm so freaking stupid... my mom booked an amazing villa for the weekend and we ALWAYS go on vacation, so I was somehow a little vacation-fatigued. So I said I'd stay behind. I was catching up on some work so I thought it was logical.
But that was the worst decision ever!!! I don't care about the villa part, I just want to be around my mom and sister! I'm so sad. I miss them so much, even though it's only been a few hours. I wish I went!... it's so lonely in the house.
I MISS MY MOM!!!!!
All my old logs were a bit blue... and I feel much better now. I took out what didn't make me happy and here we are! Big redesign and more fun!!! I really love working on my websites, and I feel like I've gotten so much better + smarter since I've last updated! I'm so proud of how far I've come!
I think 90% of the time I'm pretty well adjusted , but I think most of us can never get rid of that 10%. When I fall into that 10% it's fine, because I can always get better and I can always be happy and play with my dog and love those around me. Life does not matter all that much, and I'd like to spend most of it loving my dog, and just having fun. It is inevitable that I will get worse again but let this log be proof that it can get better and I can be happy again. Every day there is a new opportunity to be happy. I love you Peanut.
Hey guys!! I've been super into zines lately and I've been designing a new website to start a digital zine collection ... Like a library!! Haha it's so fun to learn web design it's kind of painful but really pays off once stuff starts working and stuff starts looking good. I've always wanted to work in print and advertising so zines really interest me! I hope I can share it here soon because I'm just working on it in VSCode right now... :D

This rendition of Cherokee is amazing performance ... Véronica Swift is a master of her craft - singing! My favourite part starts at around 5:36, and I've basically memorised all that by heart. I love the entire thing.
Swift in particular just has an amazing voice for scatting and bebop; I checked out her other albums, and I especially love the songs where she's dueting with Benny Benack III, who both sings and plays the trumpet.
She's accompanied by jazz legend Wynton Marsalis on the trumpet, as well as Walter Blanding Jr. on tenor, Dan Nimmer on the piano (great!), Carlos Henriquez on the double bass, and Francesco Ciniglio on the drums. Fantastic group all around!!!

Sometimes I think I've already seen the most beautiful things there are to see. Then I see something new. Like this painting. Warm embrace. Clutching. You see this embrace everywhere. Clawing. Schiele's rendition—or bastardization—is brilliant too. It's so carnal and violent and rough and terrible.
As opposed to Klimt's Der Kuss, which depicts a purer embrace: "adoration" comes to mind. Wrapped in gold, cradling the other. Schiele's Caress is carnal and possessive.

Cool article I'm reading about acedia, an emotion that's like listlessness, general apathy. Seems almost similar to how depression affects other people: gaining a disinterest in most things. The other link seems to be a sort of module about akedia from a lecture by an academic. I got it from his site, didymus.org. Very interesting!
From the lecture module, I've learned that inaction in itself is an action. The whole thing is written in the context of spirituality of course, but it's easily applied to other relationships. It mostly talks about neglecting one's relationship with God. Akedia not only leads to us neglecting ourselves, but those around us too. Relationships don't just deteriorate when you do something bad to another, it's just as bad when you do nothing to nurture the relationship.
"The early church believed that not acting because one refused to do what love asked of us was the deadliest and most dangerous of sins. They called the sin akedia ("indifference," "spiritual apathy").
When we discuss akedia, we are discussing the mystery of why people fall out of love."
This reminds me a lot of my relationship with my mom. I love her, but I don't like going out with her, because I have become apathetic and careless towards taking care of our relationship. She invites me out to eat, to shop, to get our nails done. I know she is trying to connect because she so often sees me sad. I cry, I don't move from my desk, I stay at home all day. I know she doesn't ask me why because she's the type to wait for you to be ready to share your feelings with her. But I will never share any of them, because I don't even know what I am feeling. I just know I am empty, and I have little interest in most things. It's so hard to care. I love you, Mom.

Outsider art is so awesome. It's pure and I think it's the truest art. It's untainted by that sort of preconceived notion of what art should be that lingers in any person's brain when they create something. Of course somebody can say I made this for myself, I don't care what society thinks, but I feel like even that type of thought is formed by influence of others. You can't do this kind of art anymore, not unless you're alone and unaware and ignorant and hidden from everything like Wölfli was. Impossible in our day.
His pieces are so beautiful, so intricate, so cathartic!!!! Another thing I found out while reading the page is horror vacui, which is what you call it when all spaces of a piece of art are covered.

So many cool buttons and transcript and coolest of all: the entire recordings of the chosen apollo flight! It's awesome to hear the astronauts talk to each other because it makes the whole thing feel that much realer. IDK. It's 2am. It's just a lot different reading some second hand information about it than hearing the scientists themselves at work. :)

This is my button! Feel free to download the button and add me to your own site :) Anyway I made this because I felt like just having an array of buttons doesn't properly convey what I love about everybody's sites.
Copy and paste the text below to link my button to your page! Tell me if you do, cause I'd love to add you to my neobors. :)
BTdubs: Click on the buttons themselves to open my neobors' sites!
My first friend in Neocities! His website is freaking sick.
His Old Net Stories is some awesome sleuthing! He writes all about some rabbit holes he goes into, and I've got to recommend you check out Episode #4, The Magic Balloon. You can join in and help discover some stuff too! Aside from that, D-Man's site is chock full of fascinating/relatable writings. Check him out!
RetroMaster94's website is SO Frutiger Metro, so 2000s, and inspired me to redesign my website layout. And they have amazing motion & logo designs, I thought they were fully real! Past sense "thought" because I saw a radio station logo redesign in my local area and realized it wasn't the same. But for a moment I truly thought, hell yeah that new redesign is cool! Very professional and yet ...so full of personality !!
Their layout is so metal. I love the little game in the Journal tab! Not only that, but their gallery is full of beautiful images they've taken.
Another webmaster that inspired me to redesign my site. Henry's command of color is so fun, and there's actually so many pages to explore. This is true old web! I FREAKING LOVE THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE EXPLORE IT!!!
Another totally Frutiger website! The site is based on an actual old Japanese site if I recall correctly, so it's no surprise this feels so classic. There's a lot of tabs to explore for yourself! Check them out!
N introduces a lot of their pages with a narrative which is fun and gets you in the exact mood they want you while you surf their directory. I've just started reading Anna Karenina and saw their review, and I'm definitely more curious as to how the book turns out after reading N's little blurb about it! Make sure to peek in their Blog tab in the directory :)
Avi's website is like nothing I've seen before! Their layout is amazing and there's no doubt they know their way around a freakin computer! Play some of her music on her playlist on the left while perusing the album review she has up. Awesome!
Andi provides us with so many textures. I always love websites that feel like I can run the pads of my fingers over them. She hosts a lot of writings, which is a very, very close peer into what most would call "mundane." But I agree with the subject matter that Andi chooses to tackle, this "mundanity." Is that a word? So much beauty lies in the mundane. What I really like as well is that they do a similar, "odd" way of sectioning off parts of their website as me: there's a Landline, Scrapbook, and Armoire! The video in the Landline section is super mega cool. As of writing (9/12/25), the Scrapbook and Armoire are still a mystery, but I look forward to seeing what it's all about :)
I'm always on the hunt for organic book reviews ... so I had to peruse Myrtle's digital bookshelf! I bought a copy of Perfume because of their review of its prose being so vibrant, but haven't yet begun to read... Gotta finish my current book first! :) May I add that they're a fantastic artist with such a distinct style in composing faces... their choice of brushes is also so scrumptious. Great!!
inthemeantime welcomes us to their garden, their own colorful little world.
The garden reminds me a lot of the books I'd read as a kid; it has that scrapbooky style that is pretty much a literal feast for the eyes. For me, the highlight is currently the portal, which encompasses a huge collection of fun+useful links!
I think it's also important to note that inthemeantime is a chef! Check out their Lemon Pie with Meringue Topping on Skep's Virtual Potluck Day! It looks so yum! Feeling real hungry while writing this...
This website is so beautiful.
Alice's website is a "love letter to the old web!" She's designed it to look like a Windows XP desktop with a whole bunch of cool windows open, some of which are redesigned old sites made to look like Avocado-branded stuff.
Avocadoland even has its own record label, Avocado Records. Kind of an MTV feel. It feels like actually surfing different websites. She's recently even launched avoBuy, an eBay replica that — instead of selling anything, provides us with free cool resources she's found on the internet or made herself. Totally cool!
Öz's site is METAL! Easy on the eyes with the maroon and black theme, but I'm not only impressed by that. His art (very NSFW and gory) is a testament to his talent because by Jove the way he captures the blood and meat of a man is really impressive!
His Observations tab is also full of high-def pictures of cool little critters. Did I mention Öz is a freaking biologist too?! Wow!
Boy do I wonder what TjBWNA stands for...
Julian's site is so analog. Her photographs are REALLY nice too, like, seriously beautiful. I had so much fun looking through all the Photos & Art section.
But that's not my FAVORITE part of her site... it's Juli's Personal Media Library.
How freaking cool is that?! Her IRL friends can borrow anything from what's on this library. It's such an awesome idea that really hammers in the fact that YES, this is this Human's website, a part of them! And to know that it's an avenue of interaction for them and their friends... that's what the web should be all about!
Sorry Juli... your JPML is so awesome I really wanna copy it!!!
#Halloween much?! Check out this spooky themed site!
VFreak's the first ever to use one of my Free Templates! (if you haven't seen em yet, look on the right) I was so excited when I found out, and so happy to see how they'd customized it! I've linked the page that they used it on, too.
Anyway, one thing me and VFreak agree on is that the 2000s-2010s were THE BEST DECADES!
Gabe's site reminds me of like 2012-2013 MTV website but if a forest ranger made it. Do you get me? His yellowjournal zine is OUT OF THIS WORLD, really awesome. You can print it out, too!
First off - the design of this site is really quite velvety, in a way. Old school velvet, and there's a fantastic little compact layout they've went for.
I'm not an anime fan but their side-project, Murasame Labs, is sick. It's Gundam-themed and sets you up to get into the fandom as well! Rei has a little section titled "Bored?" that leads you to multiple ways to engage with Gundam. A torrent to watch, comics to read, and of course Gundam to build! I love their love for Gundam.
This is an online magazine! Isn't that sick?
"Art Block is an online magazine about art, art history, aesthetics, and other creative rabbit holes. Each edition follows one subject." - Dave
The website is minimalist and modern but not in the bad way; it's just really clean and a well thought-out website. I'm really looking forward to Art Block's first issue, since the rest of the site is so awesome. I wonder what Dave's got to say about "Grafitti!"
Holy eye attack. But so wonderfully creative, and there is a harmony to the website! Once you get past the shocking colors, of course. This website is perfect for exploration!
I'm sure you can guess... this site is just an amalgamation of everything ME! So, get to know me more right here. Who knows, maybe we'll have a lot in common
